Dr Seuss dreamed it up, and Kathy Temin
bro ught it to life. My monume nt: White forest
is a fan tastical installatio n of fluffy white trees
co ntrasting again st a sky blue backgro un d,
reminiscent of the endangered truffula forest
in The Lora x. Fu rther i nspired by American
modernist Fra nk Stella’s 1960s maze- like
paintings, Te min has created a magical, if
slightly sinister w hite fo rest, the struc tu res
movingly wonky and fragile. They act as a site
for collective remembering, inviting visitors
into a fan tasy realm, a place simu ltan eou sly
present and absen t, real an d imagin ed.
