Perth ex- pat Emma Phillips has worked in the creative ind ustries for
more than 16 years and is now based in London with an eye on design.
Craft: it’s not a new trend but it’s certainly having a major moment in the UK.
Perhaps it’s a by-product of many years of over consumption of manufactured
goods, but it’s also the recession that has sparked an appetite for tradition and
quality, not to mention DIY ethics fuelling a new wave of craft artists/designers.
While we make huge leaps in the online experience, it’s heartening to see age-old
artisan techniques are not only still in demand but being brought to life by a new
generation of designers.
