LUMINOUS WORLD – CONTEMPORARY ART
FROM THE WESFARMERS COLLECTION
Creating a vibrant workplace for its employees
and offering an insight into the richness of their
own cultural backgrounds as well as those of
their clients and partners has been the catalyst
for Wesfarmers to build one of the most important
corporate collections of Australian art.
In order to showcase the contemporary works from their
collection, curator Helen Carroll has framed this exhibition
around the subject of light.
As well as selecting works owned by the company,
Helen has commissioned artistic contributions for the
accompanying catalogue from the artist Bill Henson,
the poet John Kinsella and composer Richard Mills.
Each of the works provides “an illuminating response
to the intangible phenomenon of light in contemporary
art, music and literature”.
Art Gallery of Western Australia, October 20-February 11.
