he North Perth home of artist
Heather Jones blends art, antiques
and timber objects within a
warm and homely space that
just oozes creativity.
It’s the kind of home where you want to
wander slowly around and look at every
old item and piece of art, then pull a book
off the shelf and get cosy on the couch with
a hot chocolate or glass of red wine.
There’s an old timber abacus sitting on a
shelf, and a couple of rusty padlocks lying
on top of an old Japanese chest but, while
eclectic, the house is far from cluttered.
Everything has its place and there’s a
seamless blend between old and new.
Heather and her husband, Clive, bought
the 1910 cottage four years ago, and set
about doing an extension. They spent 18
months adding a bedroom and art studio
and have since been adding little touches
of things they love, turning it into a place
that reflects their lives and how they live.
“We live quite a secluded life working at
home,” says Heather. “We live very much
in our own world and we wanted it to be
cosy – an oasis of peace with the things we
love around us.”
Heather started painting at the age of 10
under the tutelage of her artist father
