On e of his most impressive pro jects is the restoratio n an d renovatio n of
his mid-19th cen tu r y Italian ate stucco ho me i n Notting Hill.
Describe your design philosophy and aesthetic. Firstly, love the proj ect
and listen to your clients. Be charming. I mix very old, mid-century and
ver y new, and I’m comfo rtably brave with colo ur an d bold patterns, even if
it’s to na l. Then be to ugh an d edit, edit, edit!
What projects are you working on right now? I’ve just finished an amazing
five-house compound on a cliff edge in Israel. I ’m also doing an in credible ar t
deco house in Cap d’Antibes and a few beautiful houses in West London.
What are the current key trends for residential interior design? Tex t ur e ,
layering, comfort – and do not overfill. It just blocks the mind and it will
dri ve you mad.
What’s inspiring you right now? Holidays! It’s w here I get my inspiration
an d I’m always with a sketchbook in han d. (At the time of interview, Peter
and his partner were in Sri Lanka and were staying in a Geoffrey Bawa hotel
– “It’s all about geometric batik print in black and white”).
