On the hunt
This Portuguese breech-lock cannon, circa late 16th
century, was found in the Dutch East Indies in East
Kalimantan on Borneo island. The front breech has a motif
with an Arabic inscription, which may have been a good
luck gesture from trader to trader. The cannon comes with
a custom-made carriage.
From the north of France comes
this walnut bureau, which displays
ormolu mounts typical of the
country’s finest furniture makers
during the 18th and 19th centuries.
With a marble top and leather
writing slide, the bureau is finished
with decorative inlay around the
piece and on the front drawers.
