NZ-based journalist Kris Herbert is a self-confessed design j unkie
and lover of NZ’s cutting-edge scene.
Though New Zealand wardrobes (and rugby fields) have long been dominated
by the colour black, playful colours are coming through in interiors. From bold,
re-upholstered vintage chairs, to Tim Webber’s beautifully refined Ampel
pendants and Sam Lennon’s lovely steel forms. But don’t worry, the nation’s
wardrobes and rugby fields are still decidedly... black.
Neal Smith is passionate about creating curvaceous forms from timber.
Planar table is a break from the straight line and has surpassed several
thousand other NZ designs to win the Metaform Award. It is built from
solid ash and comes in a range of finishes. From NZ$7990 ($6150).
