From the Japanese Meiji period
(1860s-1910s) comes this lady’s dressing
chest of superb quality, circa 1860. The
chest’s handles indicated it would have
accompanied a high-born lady as she
followed the Emperor’s court or travelled
from estate to estate. Atop it is a rare,
unusual and early vase by Emile Galle, a
French artist considered one of the most
important and influential glass artists of
the art nouveau period.
