To form, Starck ’s ton gu e rema ined firmly in
cheek with a chandelier topped by an u mbrella a nd
a pun ching bag, while De L ucchi ex plo red classic
crystal fo rms with a simple series of table la mps
an d pen dants – but it was Eriko Ho riki’s spectacular
paper lan tern that held visitors spellbou n d –
won deri ng how such a delicate material could
su ppo rt the weight of the imbedded cr ystals!
Another inaugural appearance was Hermes,
with its collection displayed in a wonderful Shigeru
Ban - an d Jean de Gastines- designed pavilio n of
cardboard tubes woven with paper, reading as a
structu re within a structu re in side the 1930s spo rts
stadium L a Pelota in cen tral Milan .
The Metiers Collection was presented as the
Hermes ‘ lifestyle’ offering, with eight designs by
Jean- Michel Fran k an d a n exquisitely crafted
dining an d office collection by Italian master Enzo
Mari, alon gside pieces by Anto nio Citterio an d
Hermes artistic director, architect Den is Mon tel.
French crystal house Baccarat exhibited many beautiful lighting
pieces, such as the Shizuku by Eriko Horiki.
