Artist Peter Cook is a Pe rth-based
ar tist an d design er-maker, working in
West Australian timbers, fi n e metal
an d other materials. Peter’s art work
explores n atu ral evolution within
our local and unique WA landscape,
using engineered forms and fine
craftsmanship to ren der his ideas.
Peter is also a directo r of the
award-win ni ng Per th design
company Scarab Studio Wood.
The artwork Stratum IV – Krysalis
blends a ran ge of narratives: it is a
co ntain er represen ting the protecto r
of v uln era ble genesis; it is an evo lved
form (something grown, or eroded);
it is skin on bone.

The artwork Class of 2010 is a
wo nderfully creative celebration of
the memorable characters that make
scho ol life mean ingful. Using the
mu g-shot format, Ross playfully casts
his frien ds as loveable rogu es whose
u n ique person alities have shaped his

a fu sio n of mediu ms, developing
depth an d light within each piece. Her
painting technique has been refi ned
over 3 0 years as a mid-career artist
wo rking with both canvas an d paper
mediums. Co nchita’s ex trao rdinar y
use of colour, texture and content
has con so lidated her reputatio n as
a n exciting collectible ar tist.
The art work Lunch 2 is packed full
of texture and points of interest.
The piece uses fo ur distinct abstrac t
figures to engage the viewer in a
playful, yet distan t, man n er. The soft
velvet-like wax finish of the piece,
together with the depth created by
layered media, creates perspective
a nd results in a piece that leaves the
viewer hungry for more.
