MR OSBORNE & LITTLE
We speak with the man at the top of one of the world’s leading
textiles brands during his Australian visit – Sir Peter Osborne
O&L’s philosophy in fi ve words? Innovative, distinc tive, appealing, quality, diverse.
Our 2011 direction is... Tactile with architectu ral referen ces an d fin e drau ghts-
man ship. Also exu be ran t design s with beaded a nd embroidered embellishmen ts.
What palette are you most excited about? Shell colou rs, pearls an d metallics;
soft, warm greys are the new neutrals; blue is coming in – indigo and kingfisher
hues joining the ever-popular aqua; and jewel colours are juxtaposed with neutrals.
Any new advance ments? Technical innovation s in synthetic fabrics, an d
hologra phic and beaded wallpapers.
Emerging trends? Anim al textures – le opard, gira ffe, ze bra, sha rkskin a nd alligator.
Best colours and textures for winter? Soft, co mfor table tex tiles, such as wo ols
in plaids and stripes with warm accents of coral and aqua to cheer us up.
What drives your passion for textiles? An attraction to all things decorative, such
as Fo rn aset ti an d Memphis, star ting with a boyhood passion fo r illustrated bo ok s.
Your favourite O&L print of all time? Well, I have to say that Nizam from our latest
Karava nsara collection brings togethe r ever ything I love. It’s an exotic, large-scale
swirling paisley pattern in gorgeous colour combinations, embellished with metallic
thread. Osborne & Little via Se ne ca Tex tiles (03) 9529 2788, se ne ca textiles.com,

The artisan quality of blown
glass and the potential of new
materials thanks to an embrace
of new technologies combine in
the latest pendant from Italian
lighting specialist Axo. The
Spillray is a play on the shape of
an upturned goblet and comes
in coloured and natural glass.
The idea is to encourage a mix of
singular or grouped pendants in
various colours. While elegant,
the potential result is a whole
lot of fun. Alti Lighting (08) 9284
