architecturally designed plinth in the entry
on to which the elephant fitted perfectly.

A built-in shelving unit in the dining area
is another focal point. The same off-white
colour as the walls, it makes ornaments, such
as a sublime black Eames bird sculpture,
appear to hang effortlessly in space.
While the main outdoor area is on the
opposite side, the dining zone has small
bi-folds that open to a tiny zen-style
courtyard containing bamboo greenery
and a water feature. It adds to the indoor-
outdoor connection and also boosts the
interior scheme with a shot of living colour.
Creating a functional flow through the
house was integral to the design, and this
can be seen upstairs where a long passage
divides areas for adults and children.
While the boys’ bedrooms are at the front
of the house, the parents’ suite is positioned
