This garden (above) by Melbourne s Paal Grant
Designs in Landscaping took out gold at the
recent Melbourne International Flower & Garden
Show. We love the cut-out pergola (sun shines
through to cast shadows on the wall and deck); the
curved decking with a fire pit; and the elevated
stone aggregate path. Paal Grant says balancing
different textures, colours and shapes is key to
its success. Accessories company Entanglements
also worked on the design. Visit paalgrant.com.
Keep your timber stained with Palm Beach Black from Porter s
Paints (left). Designed to last, the high-quality, water-resistant,
UV-protected pigments also glisten in the sun. Gorgeous! Palm
Beach Black is priced from $43.94 for a one-litre tin. Porter s

GLOW IN THE DARK
Give a sci-fi style hit to your outdoors with the
Reggiani OFU, designed by Portuguese architect
Alvaro Siza. It provides soft illumination for your
garden and colour interest, too, thanks to colour-
changing LEDs. And it s tough. A strong aluminium
body means it can come in a surface or a ground-
recessed version (as pictured here, standing 65cm tall
when installed), and it has a high degree of protection,
making it suitable for the toughest outdoor situations.
Priced from $3800 each and available in other versions.
