roughout the spaces, however, there is
one constant, something unique that travels
with Kelly into all of her new homes: her
collection of artwork.
"I have collected contemporary
photography for years -- I would never
sell it," says Kelly. "My brother is Michael
Hoppen, and he has a gallery, so I have
been collecting for about 20 years."
Photography of Marilyn Monroe features
in both the living room and Kelly's bedroom;
her favourite piece -- a photograph by Peter
Beard -- hangs opposite the dining table. A
striking work of Mohammed Ali,
meanwhile, hangs in the entrance.
It's these types of collections that Kelly
says can be used to give a home its heart. In
fact, her 2010 trend report says even more
emphasis will be placed on photography and
art in the home this year, to complement a
neutral scheme and personalise the home.
"People now want their homes to look
like they have lived there for years... with a
bit of this from his house and a bit of this
from hers and some bits from grannies, if
you know what I mean," she says.
With Kelly also signalling a return to
Shabby Chic, but a new linear style, it will
be interesting to see the look and feel of her
next home, and we may not have to wait long.
" e thing is I have to change my homes
and this one is going to be sold soon and I am
going to do another one, so I am constantly
changing," she states. Stay tuned. I

Colours Neutrals still rock and always will, as far
as I am concerned, but the added bits, such as art,
photography, etc, can be anything and everything.
Lighting Use hidden and concealed lighting to create
clever shadows, then add magnificent star pieces to be
lit. This builds character and ambience.
Furniture Sofas will be rounder and deeper. Vintage
co ee tables and piled trunks will be seen in materials
that you would not usually expect.
Floors There will be a lot of wood in all colours.
Carpets and rugs Pattern, shag and thick piles with a
comfortable sinking feeling are also a must for this year.
Walls These will be seductive and edged and capped
in metals. Wallpaper will also be massive this year and
it will all be textural, so don't be surprised to see
woodchip wallpaper reappearing.
