Most artists and designers seem to share
this view, saying there are many aesthetic
and structural advantages to developing an
artwork in the initial building stages.
Stuart Green says that some of his most
successful projects (from mainly private
commissions) were the result of a very
collaborative relationship with the architect.
"I recently did some artworks for a mixed-
use building in Subiaco," he explains. "And
from the start, the architect David Hillam
and I were talking about how we could best
integrate the art into the structure.
