EASY AS XYZ
Young New Zealand design
team Emma Fox Derwin and Nigel
Groom, together known as Well-
Groomed Fox, took their first
collection to Milan's Studio
Satellite in April this year.
The pair's XY+Z suitrack is a rack for
a whole outfit. The name refers to the
male XY chromosome and
the 3D form of the letter Z.
It's a re-interpretation of a
traditional men's valet stand and
was necessitated by Emma's domination
of the couple's shared wardrobe. Elegan
fun and modern, the XY+Z suitrack is
hand bent from mild steel. Not yet in
production: watch this space!
Architect Justin Wright, of Assembly Architecture, discovered a problem in his clients'
homes. "We notice people struggle to find good-quality shelving suitable to hold or
display the various objects they have in their homes: books, both big and small, vases,
sculptures, photo frames and albums and, you know, their 'stu '." In response, Justin
designed the Stackweave, a modular, almost-woven shelf system to handle all sorts of
"stu ", as he puts it. The Stackweave is made to order, so prices vary (the bookcase
pictured is valued at A$5791). Visit assembly.co.nz.
