What's new in arts, design, architecture
and culture throughout New York.

Fans of the iconic Lever House Restaurant at
landmark building Lever House have a new
power-lunch venue after the space closed down
last year. The new restaurant, Casa Lever, has
a Marc Newson-designed interior reminiscent
of a 1950s space-aged apartment (curved walls,
cozy booths and mid-century furnishings),
creating a more intimate feel. The revamp
has created a more light-flooded area and 19
original Warhols (part of the Lever House
collection) grace the walls. Visit casalever.com.
SECOND HAND CHIC
Brooklyn-based Jason Miller defies labels. This artist/designer/furniture-maker
has been an assistant for celebrated artist Je Koons and celebrity-status designer
Karim Rashid. His provocative designs -- chairs patched with duct tape -- celebrate
Americana and a certain worn-out, pre-loved aesthetic. His designs reside in the
collection of New York's Museum of Arts and Design. Visit millerstudio.us.
Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has
a new restaurant inside famous interiors
store ABC Carpet & Home. The eatery
follows the farm-to-fork approach, the
hottest culinary trend in this city, but goes
further than most with uniforms sourced
from thrift stores and bread baskets made
by the indigenous people of Patagonia.
The food is organic, market-driven
deliciousness, while the decor follows the
salvage-chic trend. Visit abchome.com.
