Artist: Kate Childs Dowling's
painting features in Year 12 Perspectives

The Artwork: Kate says of her work: "I
chose to do a portrait of Canadian
musician Dallas Green. I was inspired by
his emotive music and tried to convey his
true colours in this painting. Often people
make assumptions of a person based
purely on appearances and so I tried to
convey the hidden colour and talent
behind his scru y exterior."

15. MELTING POT
Title: Xanthorrea Group
Artist: Gerry Reilly is a hot glass
designer and artist based in Margaret
River. He produces a decorative range of
handmade glass designs from the Melting
Pot Glass Studio, which he has owned and
run since 1990.
The Artwork: Xanthorrhoea is part of an
evolution in the design of Gerry's work.
His aim is to capture the movement of
the grass tree in the wind. Paradoxically,
he also tries to capture the movement
of the hot glass as it cools to the stillness
of a sculpture. This reflects a moment
in limitless time -- reflecting the living,
moving and ever-changing light.

16. GALLERY SIMURG
Title: Horse Dream
Artist: Eldar Babazadeh is a graduate
of the Azerbaijan Art School. He
has exhibited at various national and
international venues, including galleries
in Poland, Turkey, Iran and Germany.
His work is held in various private
collections in Europe.
