Piece: Ar t Deco 18ct white gold/sapphire/diamond ring
This beautiful dress ring is hand-assembled from more than 32 individual white gold pieces.
It is a superb example of the quality of craftsmanship and fastidious e ort undertaken to
complete such an exquisite item of jewellery. Attention to detail is not spared, with even

Piece: Wooden darning and needle holder
This unusual, egg-shaped piece was made for the Spanish market and features a detailed
picture of the Santa Maria -- the largest of three ships used by Christopher Columbus in his
first voyage across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492. It is marked with the phrase 'Agujas Finas',
which means fine needle. A beautiful ornament, it also features detailed decoration on the

Piece: Continental red enamel

Eighteenth century glasses were made
in three parts: the foot, the stem and the
bowl. These were then joined together.
The stems were made separately, so
they could exhibit the glassmakers' skill
in manipulating enamel threads into wild
and wonderful contortions. When Britain
introduced a glass tax in 1746, glassmakers
responded by creating smaller, more
decorated, examples. Most common are
air-twist stems, followed by white enamel
versions. Coloured stems like this one are
