Piece: 15c t gold "adore" ring
Symbolic jewellery has been very popular since the early 19th Century.
The use of multi-coloured stones to spell out a word allows a secret
message to be conveyed. "Regard" and "dearest" were popular and the
same technique is used in this much rarer "adore" ring. Featured here are
the following in sequence: amethyst, diamond, opal, ruby and emerald.
The stones are well-matched and the ring is very pretty.

as a genteel way to store fine glass bottles
