years as chairman.
Antony believes WA's landscaping industry is very strong.
"I think what we are doing is very good, we're certainly not the
poor relation in that sense," says Antony. "However, I do think we've
been short-changed in Perth regarding public landscaping."
Antony has spent much time in Europe at various flower shows
(including the famous Chelsea show) and botanical gardens, and
studying various city streetscapes.
"In Europe there are trees all over the avenues and the botanical
gardens are absolutely fantastic," says Antony. "You see it in Subiaco's
Rokeby Road with the trees but most other streets in Perth don't have
a single tree and it is hot as anything and totally inhospitable."
Starting with his own work, Antony makes sure the plant
fraternity is well represented in residential design. Now he has
handed the LIAWA chairman reigns over, he has returned to what
he loves most -- designing and constructing beautiful gardens with
plenty of plants. I
