International architecture, interiors and planning company Woodhead is committed to environmentally sustainable design,
which made them the perfect firm to design Stockland's new Perth-based five-storey 7200sqm "green" commercial o ce
building -- the first project in Western Australia to receive a six-star Green Star (o ce design) rating by the Green Building
Council of Australia.
Designed by architect John-Paul Davies, the building is located at 2 Victoria Avenue in the CBD and is clearly
identifiable by its prominent glass and burnt orange metallic facade overlooking the Swan River.
Its star rating was achieved through initiatives such as individually monitored automated external louvres, an active
chilled beam mechanical air-conditioning system, grey water recycling, o ce consumables recycling, roof-mounted wind
turbines, full monitoring systems for electricity, and water and carbon dioxide ventilation.
The building recently won the energy e ciency award at the MBA awards and was the showcase project at the Green
Building Council's Breakfast With The Stars seminar.
In 2006, Woodhead became a Climate Friendly company and was the first Asia-Pacific architectural practice to o set
all its carbon emissions.
